Entity invokation ?

No Offence, but this would possibly be better answered from a Pagan perspective, although I am happy to hear from others who will give me a serious answer pertinent to the question.

Ok. You know how when you do an invocation of the God/Goddess, you’re really calling up on an energy within yourself ? What about invoking entities ? Like angels or demons ( one man’s angel is another man’s demon) is it another part of yourself you’re invoking or are they separate ? Do they really exist or are they parts of our sub conscious too ?
No disrespect to anyone but please no rants about the alleged evils of invokation, we are all free to our own belief systems. I
By the way as a Pagan I don’t believe in or acknowledge the devil or satan or whatever other people call him.

I’m sorry…I’m really unfamiliar with invokation but I’d like to hear more…any links you could post? I like to keep an open mind about all spirituality :)

Just because you believe, does it make it true?
The bible is the one true source of knowledge and I do not believe this, I know it to be true. and Satan is the father of lies and the master of manipulation. you dont want me to tell you that these spirits are evil? I would be doing you a great evil if I were to keep that knowledge to myself. The Holy spirit is from God and is calling every person to him. Listen carefully to your heart and let it be your guide to the truth.

Some people believe that in invocation/evocation, one is merely summoning up various portions of one’s own psyche. However, others believe that the entities are quite real. I have heard both opinions. For instance, when summoning the Goetic entities, some people believe that an actual spirit is manifesting, whereas others believe that it is merely something brought forward from their own subconscious.

I’m Native American and what you just described is a part of shamanistic practice. (Its also a big part of Enochian magick, and you might like to check that out.) From personal experience, and from my own Native American perspective, I know certain entities. They have presented themselves to me, and I continue to work with 8 of them on a regular basis. They are not a part of my subconscious. I wondered about that too. In communicating and working with them it has become apparent to me that they are very much their own selves and not a part of me. There is no projection involved. Their answers are often not mine, they word things and write things in ways that are just odd to me. Different personalities are most evident. Of course this has been MY experience and only that. People can and will pick that sort of thing apart. That’s OK. They weren’t there, they don’t know. I was, I do. ;-) ~ Peace & Blessings ~

I think it probably varies from person to person. If you believe that by invoking your God/Goddess that you’re really calling up energy within yourself, then more than likely by invoking other entities, you’re invoking other parts of yourself. Say, for example, that you invoke Zeus. This could be a way of conjuring up Zeus-like qualities within yourself. Of course, some people don’t see it that way and believe that when you invoke a certain god/goddess/entity, you’re calling on them. It really depends on your personal beliefs.
