The Vanir are the “other” gods, though the exact nature of that otherness has been the subject of much debate. A widely accepted traditional view is that the Vanir represent the gods of a society the Germanic people conquered and assimilated.Just like they were assimilated in rome, ancient greece etc etc….yea i am talkin about ancient basques….why did viking sailors call basque sailors “the vanir”?? hmm

I softly chant this before ritual and it always helps me feel more centered. I could listen to many different versions and it feels the same. Blessed Be ~*

greetings from a pagan brother, Astarte,is the greek name for the goddess known in the eastern Mediterranean from as early as the bronze age to the classical age.the history is so much just giving you the tip of the iceberg so to speak.she is the goddess of fertility sexuality and war.Innana/Inanna is from the ancient mesopotamian civilization. again with so much history is involved. she is associated with sexuality fetility and warfare as well. hope this little bit helps take care friend.

@SnitchSeeker Astarte is the name given by the phoenicians to the goddess of mother nature, life and fertility. Innana is the same goddess but for the mesopotamians.

Hello from a Christian sister, who respects your religion.
. I have a question for the Wiccans out there.I’m not familiar with the names Astarte and Innana.Who were they?Otherwise I recognized the other 5,so I’m pretty proud of myself.

Wicca is a very personal, self defined sense of spirituality. In my practice as a wiccan I believe that all religions are just and true as long as those that follow them do so with devotion and purity and if that is the case then it is the right path for them. I accept all people, regardless of their religion or beliefs as my brothers and sisters and believe in the concept of one God with many faces. Each of us finding the path that suits us in the way we best understand. Blessed Be.

is it bad that my first thought is not that to defend my religion, but that they went a little off key in the chant? lol

@starcutie41532 Wicca is a form of Paganism lol I had the same problem understanding it when I was 14 so you’re not alone dear
Technically you do not HAVE to do NOR believe everything that every Wiccan/Wiccen/ Pagan believes. Picking things from every religious (I don’t really like using the word religious just for saying :/ it reminds of politics bleh!) practice and create your own ‘beliefs’. Really go with what reasonates with you. Your heart.

Every religion has hypcrites, it’s just a fact. but take women in polotics, they are less likely to screw around then men because women are more judged due to sexism. same for the pagan religions. we are more judged, so we know how it feels, in turns, we try harder not to. does it happen? yes. but normally not intended. i hope we don’t fall to sexism, bias, and hypocrisy… blessed be everyone! may isis, athena, The Goddess, The God, and others guide you!!! )O(

@starcutie41532 don’t worry i do it in secret as well. but it does help me that my mom is a major herbal freak and was raised by hippies : / but yes u can! pagan i do believe is a bit more of the older more bound religion, again i’m in secret so it’s hard to look it up… but with wicca, you can believe in gods and goddesses from other cultures, because, to us, they ARE real. my friends and i worship Isis, Athena, Hecate, Diana, and more! hope this helps some!! i’ll talk soon! blessed be!! )O(

@Littledarkling13 I know what you’re saying, and hypocrisy from all sides is a shame. Maybe if everyone would let others live as they want without condemnation, the whole world would be a better place. Sorry if I sound too preachy, I don’t mean to come across that way.

So much argument for a peaceful chant. From now on any witch out there or pagan for that matter must hold there Tongue When there is violence in the words of a fellow brother or sister. Death will come to us all and Hecate will take them.

@ninjaburgerq maybe, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t a lot of hypocrite pagans who hate Christians JUST because they are Christians, and saying there aren’t is foolish because the proof is in the comments just below.

@souleaterchic REALLY??? you think that way? I was born of Christians..I hold several degrees in different areas of the wiccan realm/ So, go with what you feel, not by what you are pushed to feel. If Gaia is calling to you; listen. It is worth the trip into the world of knowing and feeling!!! )O( Blessings to you in your journey. Lady K~

@ShinkBooma hears a bit of advice; if you fear the system of what you love, beilieve what ou worship, not the system. Same happened to me when i was Catholic, but i helped stear my mother little by little to be more hippie-like, and thought she doesn’t know, she would be more okay with it now. You can be Wiccan and still believe in God, but if the church gives such harsh teachings, then they are not following the bible, which states that you must give the word of God without harm of violence.)O(

@TallDream is it possible that some people not born into pagans for wicca can stil be one? Because I feel different then my family (they aren’t either one) i guess im not christian like they are.

@jellabella100 im 14, wicca does capture my ear and mind, but I beleive in God. It is just the harsh teachings of Chrisianity that drive me away

@ClayborneEricaLauren i agree… i was born into a family of pagans and loved so much i have practiced it for years now… i am 16 and have become active around age 4 to 6… being in a family of pagans and worlocks (have in mind some male whitches take this as a compliment) you tend to learn things that other pagans do not know… if you ever need advice or just need someone to talk to i am here…
Blessed Be to you and your loved ones…
let Gaia give your love and light!! ^_^

@IKT57 Often you cant join covens until 18 because they are respecting and thinking you need the time to prepare and learn for the old way and of course really decide on it . Try to read a lot like Raymond Buckley or Scott Cunningham so you can get a peep inside. Its just a hint no converting ;D

Well, its a long way full of discoveries, try some Pagan podcasts, like the Ipodwitch, Brook Stargazer, she`s great about showing different ways to be wiccan/a witch but there are much more like “witchs primer”.
