Are you an intelligent person in recovery from the violent age of Christianity? How have you dealt with it?

The Bible, which is the basis of Christianity, is filled with the advocacy of hatred and violence. And history shows how christians have waged war against others who they perceive as being against or different from them. They got rid of Paganism world wide for example and of course there are many more examples. Of course, they didn’t completely wipe out Pagans just like they didn’t completely wipe out the Native Americans (north american indians.)
For me, the recovery from all this hatred and violence has been a return to my roots…a return to the Goddess. For others it has been agnosticm or aethiesm. So tell, how have you dealt with this?
I back it all up with the Bible..read it and you’ll find out. Too many xtians just listen to all the raging and rantings and never really read the bible so they dont’ realize how awful it is.

What do you STILL not understand?

Okay, I’m getting tired of this all with the Christians, and others, saying Paganism is evil/stupid/fake, etc. So, let me solve it right here, right now.

1) Paganism is an UMBRELLA TERM, like Christianity.
2) Those whom are Pagan do not believe in Satan, because Satan was created by Christians, based around the image of Pan.
3) Paganism came around in 10000 BCE. The first monotheistic religion came around in 5000 BCE, which is after Paganism.
4) Jesus died in 33 AD, around the same date as Attis. (March 23rd)
5) Magick isn’t inherently evil. Magick can be changed to be evil through a person’s intent.
6) Pagans don’t eat babies. (But Christians are cannibals, eating the body and blood of Christ…)
7) Easter is about the same day as Ostara, which is when Pagans celebrate the Goddess Ester. 8) Hel is the Norse Goddess of the Underworld… seems familiar, don’t it?
9) Most Pagans believe in reincarnation, not all of us.
10) We don’t have a $^@&ing holy book.
11) We worship na
-ture.
12) Not all of us do magick.
13) Just because we’re Pagan doesn’t mean we’re a witch.
14) Wiccans are Pagans.

There. NOW WHAT DO YOU STILL NOT UNDERSTAND?!!!

Pagans and other knowledgables, feel free to add anything I forgot.
Whoops.

15) Some — not all — Pagans are polytheistic.
Magic can be spelt magick, majic, or majick… but I spell it magick just to differentiate it from a stage-magician’s magick.
Hard to go to Hell, when not all Pagans — such as myself — believe in an underworld. :/ Hell is a Christian Concept.
To cammiellebecker: “Young lady”… well, let’s see, I AM 16. But, apparently, I know more than you, seeing as I didn’t need to quote a website and learned all these things on my own, and that this is the way many Pagans accept things. Furthermore, I believe it is YOU who needs to do more studying, as I have yet to see or read a book that says what a “True Christian” is.
To gizful: I was once a Christian, and every day find some new problem with it. I’d rather not go back to a religion that makes no sense and contradicts itself, thank you.
To Donald Shaw: Where’s your proof for this, hmn?
To Nahaz: The Bible is an inaccurate “historical” document, seeing as it was created after Jesus’ death in 33AD. Furthermore, it has been constantly edited over and over and over. Before you try to preach on my question, pick up a REAL history book.
Eigelhorn’s response (Answerer 40) was highly appreciated and highly intellectual. Abram.kelly (Answerer 33) gave a response that was as well. Liam (Answerer 37) gave a philosophical answer, much appreciated. Finally, Nahaz (Answerer 30) gave the most unintelligable response of all, countered by Eigelhorn.

Remember, though, the question was what people still didn’t understand. So, I’ll let you all decide who deserves the best answer.

Irish / Celtic Gods & Goddesses – The Ever Living Ones (Part 1)

Irish / Celtic Gods and Goddesses (Part 1) – The Ever Living Ones The Celtic pantheon is known from a variety of sources, these include written Celtic mythology, ancient places of worship, statues, engravings, cult objects, and place or personal names. It should be understood that there are two main types of Celtic deities: general and local. General deities were known by Celts throughout large regions, and are the gods and goddesses they invoked for protection, healing, luck, honour, and many other needs. The local deities were the spirits of a particular feature of the landscape (such as particular mountains, trees, or rivers) and thus was generally only known by the locals in the surrounding areas.

Was Easter originally a pagan holiday?

I know that Easter is celebrated by pagans. Easter celebrated the spring equinox and the Goddess Eastre (rebirth). I also know that Easter is celebrated by Christians as the resurrection of Christ. Which came first. I assume it was Paganism, but not sure. Please Help.

Religion; christianity or paganism?

We are pagans believing in the feminine aspect of the Goddess alongside the God. What are your beliefs and why?

what made the pagans in rome leave their dual god/goddess religion for Christianity?

As in, in paganism, you have a god and goddess and you have automatic guarantee into heaven, and you had women preistess and things like that.

So what made those pagans want to convert? And at such a rate that by the time Constantine came about, Rome was almost split because of Christianity?
huh? it was the Christians that were getting fed to lions, but pagans, knowing this, still converted. :)
why? you can come out, the inquistions and stuff are over. :)
huh? I said by the time that it GOT to Constantine, there wasn’t ANY brute force before Constantine.

At least I don’t think, because Christianity wasn’t the state religion at the time.
hmm, so that’s what started the dark ages.
well then other pagans need to get with the times and convert! :)
