Magic and Rhythm

The magic was in the air that night.
She could smell it as she entered the circle where the people gathered.
She were preparing for the main ritual of the festival.
She removed her shoes and felt the cool spring grass beneath her shoes,
She closed her eyes and felt the slight breeze.
The horn was blown to call forth the rest.
A few moments later, the opening came.
The ritual was long, though it seemed to last only a moment.
She took it all in.
She thanked the god and goddess for that night.
When they returned,
they all lit the fire with their candles.
The drumming began soon.
She felt the rhythm in her heart.
Her body began to move.
She recalled the happenings of the night as she began to dance around the brilliant fire.
Her heart was racing as she went into a trance.
She danced nonstop for hours.
Several were dancing with her.
She danced until the first light of morning came,
with the magic, and the rhythm leading her onward.

ANOTHER LIPSTICK CRISIS AVERTED
She sets the snare–
Mascara that makes her lashes
Captured raindrops,
Eyeshadow to conceal the need,
Eyeliner to draw him in.
She blinks as she applies
Volcanic red to her mouth,
The fiery color she knows
Must demand his attention.
She flashes a smile,
Almost brilliant, though she wishes
Her teeth were whiter, straighter.
She stands, checks her hair,
Her clothes, her body,
And she finds herself stunning.
He won’t escape her,
Not this time.

She is a goddess among
Girls in shimmering glitter;
Men are too initmidated
To hurl pick-up lines
That wouldn’t work anyway.
She saunters through the club,
Back straight, chest out, head high.
She is a contemporary epic;
A modern masterpiece.
She is not so virtuous as Penelope,
Nor as memorable as the Mona Lisa,
But she is an earthbound star.
Like plants, they turn to face her radiance.
They hold their breath;
She freezes them where they stand.

Who was the most courageous god or goddess in Greek Mythology?

I’m writting an epic poem on my life. I need to ask a god(dess) for couragement. Would Athena be a good goddess to ask?
Thank you!
